Simulation Comparison of Hierarchical and Flat Ad Hoc Networks

چکیده
Traditional ad hoc networks have flat architecture, which suffers from poor scalability. Theoretical analysis and experimental results imply that throughput for each node decreases rapidly toward zero while the number of nodes increases in such architecture. Hierarchical architecture in ad hoc networks present a trade off between cellular networks and pure ad hoc networks, in that data may be forwarded in a multi-hop fashion or through the infrastructure. In this paper, we focus on simulations of static ad hoc networks in two different architectures, namely hierarchical and flat. The paper is to investigate, benefits of hierarchical ad hoc network via computer simulations in terms of quality of service (QoS) provisioning, which includes transmit capacity, delay, delivery ratio, and scalability of the network. keywords: Ad hoc networks, sensor networks, wireless networks, hierarchical networks.

Estimating Reliability in Mobile ad-hoc Networks Based on Monte Carlo Simulation (TECHNICAL NOTE)
Each system has its own definition of reliability. Reliability in mobile ad-hoc networks (MANET) could be interpreted as, the probability of reaching a message from a source node to destination, successfully. The variability and volatility of the MANET configuration makes typical reliability methods (e.g. reliability block diagram) inappropriate. It is because, no single structure or configurat...
متن کاملA Survey of Solutions to Protect Against All Types of Attacks in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
In recent years mobile networks have expanded dramatically, compared with other wireless networks. Routing protocols in these networks are designed with the assumption that there is no attacker node, so routing protocols are vulnerable to various attacks in these networks. In this paper, we review the network layer attacks and then we simulate the impact of black hole attack on ad hoc on demand...
متن کاملComparison of Two Self-organization and Hierarchical Routing Protocols for Ad Hoc Networks
In this article, we compare two self-organization and hierarchical routing protocols for ad hoc networks. These two protocols apply the reverse approach from the classical one, since they use a reactive routing protocol inside the clusters and a proactive routing protocol between the clusters. We compare them regarding the cluster organization they provide and the routing that is then performed...
متن کاملIntegration of Mobile-IPV6 and Olsr for Inter-Monet Communications
Trends in fourth generation (4G) wireless networks are clearly identified by the full-IP concept where all traffic (data, control, voice and video services, etc.) will be transported in IP packets. MObile NETwork (MONET) is a group of mobile nodes moving together as a unit. Such groups are common characteristics of the vehicular environments, for example train and buses (which are attractive be...
متن کاملA Fuzzy Realistic Mobility Model for Ad hoc Networks
Realistic mobility models can demonstrate more precise evaluation results because their parameters are closer to the reality. In this paper a realistic Fuzzy Mobility Model has been proposed. This model has rules which are changeable depending on nodes and environmental conditions. It seems that this model is more complete than other mobility models. After simulation, it was found out that not o...
